Buyer Beware: Eco Tree Removal Brisbane
We’ve been watching as another page, Eco Tree Removal Brisbane takes over our social media presence and Google result real estate and we have reason to believe they’re a content farm. They’re coasting on our good reputation and we wanted to let everyone know, that we’re not the same, we also don’t want our customers to trust that they will do the job that we, or our competitor companies who are doing great things, will do. Our names may be similar but that’s where the similarities end. We want to protect our customers and those of our friendly competition from hiring a company that is in essence, a scam.
Some of our customers have accidentally left reviews for our company on their Google My Business page and their phone number has been shared as being ours. Please beware of this to avoid promoting a company that we don’t think is reputable.
Our phone number is 07 3520 8661 and if you’d like to give us a review, you can do so here.
We’ve looked into their entire online presence and there are so many discrepancies, it’s infuriating. We’re pretty sure that their pages are a lead generation front for local businesses due to the multiple changes of business names on their social media.
Here they were a company that removed asbestos:
A building inspections company:
A pest control company:
And here they were both a bond cleaning company and a pest control company, within two days of each other:
The different companies on their Facebook page go on and on, they’ve also been a skip hire company and a roof restoration company! There is also a plethora of posts about activities and things to do in Brisbane which are wholly unrelated, if we’re to believe they’re an arborist.
There’s also the use of stock or AI imagery when they post about being an arborist and photos of entirely the wrong tools being used. As arborists ourselves, using pruning shears for our work is not something that is done, so why make it their cover photo?
Surely, they’d rather use images they’ve taken themselves while they’re working? There’s also the issue of no consistency in any of the pictures that feature people. No distinct uniform, no familiar faces, everything is a stock image or AI generated. We’ve even seen them using pictures of trees that don’t grow in Australia on their socials.
The way the profile posts is also weird. On the 20th of April 2023, they uploaded the Eco Tree Removal logo. They followed that upload with 12 separate posts. On the 23rd of April 2023, they posted 15 posts and on the 25th of October, they did the same with 7 posts, which seems to be a pattern. We’re not judging people who post a lot, it’s just odd that all these posts are one of the pictures they posted in a gallery in a different post, or something shared from some other page as if they were trying to bury the previous company names.
Let’s dig into the owner of Eco Tree Removal Brisbane. Listed on the website as the owner is a Jade Bender, who we have never heard of as a member of Australia’s tight-knit arborist family.
Their social media page lists Jade as the owner with 10 years of experience and a member of the International Society of Arboriculture, which is a real organisation based in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States. Odd, but perhaps she moved?
Nope, no Jade Bender is registered with ISA:
When you Google “Jade Bender Eco Tree Removal Brisbane” the results offer unexpected social platforms too. There are the normal Facebook and Instagram affiliations with Eco Tree Removal Brisbane, but she also has a Soundcloud account which is unusual. On this account is a strange AI-generated podcast with one voice… Maybe a text-to-voice situation? Either way, it’s about sustainable tree removal and her love of music?
Her LinkedIn page features only four connections and states she went to University of Southern Queensland and received a Bachelor of Business Administration – BBA in Marketing but this is the only qualification we could find. There is no proof she’s qualified as an arborist. This university also doesn’t offer any qualifications to do with arbour.
Jade Bender is a graphic designer and arborist on Behance and there is only one picture of her. This is also questionable because if you’re a real person, there is going to be more than one photo of you on the internet. There are also no personal social media profiles we can find, besides the LinkedIn profile and the Behance profile.
So everywhere Jade is listed as the owner, except for Bark, in which “Eco Tree Removal Brisbane was founded in 2012 by two brothers, Alex and Ben Carter.”
Alex Carter is an interesting choice of name when competing with us no? In this profile, they have 17 years of experience, which is yet another conflicting statement.
The company’s address listed on the website is 301 Coronation Dr, Milton QLD 4064, Australia but we weren’t able to verify that. No signage or proof of it being there, other than the pin drop on Google Maps. This is a commercial property so they may have rented office space but there is no way that’s the address they’re keeping their equipment at. It’s a sleek commercial building on the waterfront. We’re certain that no arborist would be working out of that building.
Then there are all the discrepancies with the years of experience that the company boasts. On their YouTube page, they had 12 years of experience, as of one year ago:
But on their website, they have both 10 and 20 years of experience:
We also don’t see any proof that the business is registered which is concerning as no business can trade without being registered. This is yet another reason we think they might be dodgy.
All in all, this company seems untrustworthy.
If this was simply a competitor showing off their marketing prowess, we wouldn’t even bring it up, we’d just work harder. We love and respect our fellow arborists and the community of arborists in Brisbane is so small that we do know them all. We all have a friendly rivalry and will often pass business along if someone else is better suited. However, this is not that. This is some convoluted scam where unlicensed and unregistered people are cruising on the coattails of our hard-won reputation. There’s absolutely no mention of any relevant qualification we can prove. The only qualification mentioned is easily disproved, meaning any work they do is a lawsuit waiting to happen, provided they do indeed work in the arbour space.
Please be mindful of people who aren’t reputable. We’ve worked long and hard to be reputable and offer a service you can trust. If you don’t go with us, we want you to go with one of our licensed and insured friends who take good care of their customers, as we do.
The Differences Between Us and Them:
⭐Ecological Tree Services cannot give you a quote on work done without seeing the tree or stump that needs to be removed or handled.
❌Eco Tree Removal Brisbane has a whole blog outlining strangely specific prices for work to be done, prior to seeing anything here.
⭐Ecological Tree Services will only send you an invoice after the work has been completed, we will never charge you a deposit.
❌They have arbitrary prices listed on their website and (deposit to be looked into)
⭐We are fully insured up to an unrestricted height which is only possible to get from three insurance companies.
❌They say they have insurance but there is no proof of insurance listed on their website.
⭐We are proud members of the QAA
❌They have no evidence of the necessary associations listed on their website
⭐You can see our faces, you know who you’re working with.
❌They only use stock images and one image of a woman who we cannot find another picture of.
Here is a list of some of our competitors who we love and are good reputable companies to go with if we aren’t your cup of tea:
